Our consulting team performed data processing is necessary to complete the data migration of the University HR and Payroll data stored in its tenancy to the new HR and payroll platform. The data needed to be kept confidential as it was personal data of individuals working for the university. There were two separate main tasks for this project:
The first being the data migration – migrating HR and Payroll data from an on-premises Oracle system to a cloud platform (vender – Technology One). SQL scripts were written to extract data from Oracle and then stage/transform the data in MS SQL. Data was then exported to CSV files and imported into the cloud platform. SQL and Excel were heavily used for data validation purposes.
The second being writing ETLs – extracting and transforming data from the cloud platform to serve data to downstream systems. The ETLs were written entirely within the cloud platform application and required an understanding of ETL process logic.
In the modern business landscape, HR and payroll platform systems have become indispensable tools for managing human resources and payroll processes efficiently. There are various types of these systems tailored to meet the diverse needs of organizations. Cloud-based HR and payroll solutions offer flexibility and accessibility, allowing businesses to streamline their operations from anywhere with an internet connection.
